Outreach Middleware
The Outreach Middleware product is designed to allow hospital laboratories to improve their billing process for outreach services, while still utilizing the hospital’s Patient Accounting system. TELCOR recognizes that each hospital’s billing processes are different, and Outreach Middleware can provide the tools needed to allow your laboratory to take control of creating complete, clean and compliant transactions and correcting requisition errors before they reach Patient Accounting.
A hospital outreach laboratory faces many challenges, including program management, collecting the expected cash flow, client billing, measuring profitability and competing with larger, national laboratories. Workflow efficiency is often hindered by the technology and processes currently in place. To help resolve this, Outreach Middleware is a solution that provides the laboratory with a set of tools to perform several functions that are currently being performed manually or not at all. With the Middleware solution, orders are received into the LIS and then sent through Middleware’s comprehensive validation and rules process. If a transaction does not pass a rule process, it will be sent to an Error Workqueue where Client Services personnel can easily see what rule process the transaction failed and what needs to be done to correct it. After correction, the transaction can either be sent on to Patient Accounting or processed through Middleware as a Client Bill transaction. By sending the order through Middleware’s rules processing tool, denials will be reduced, thus improving the organization’s cash flow.
The Client Billing component of Outreach Middleware provides laboratories with a great deal of flexibility. This tool allows laboratories to create customizable client invoices and offer flexible pricing options such as multi-tiered pricing and unlimited fee schedules.
Designed specifically for hospital laboratories, the Outreach Middleware product is a stand-alone solution and does not require TELCOR’s Billing Information System.
