Device Connectivity

TELCOR leads the industry in device connectivity by connecting the most device types to the most LIS/EMR systems.  Because no single vendor can provide the entire menu of Point of Care Testing, hospitals are very unlikely to purchase all of their POCT devices from a single vendor. This makes the TELCOR system the solution for protecting your connectivity investment. Utilizing the latest technology and open architecture, TELCOR continues to be able to release connectivity to new POCT device types for its customers in 120 days. This means your system can continue to grow without restrictions as your POCT program needs increase.

Addition of a new driver to an existing TELCOR system is easily and efficiently accomplished remotely and requires no down time.  Results for new device types can easily be routed through the test port to the test environment on the LIS/EMR for verification of order and result code mapping.  Once the testing is complete, results for the new device type are easily rerouted to the live port.

Unique drivers exist for each device type.  These drivers are designed to accept the data in any format and through any connectivity method made available by the device vendor and then re-map the data into a common format for processing through a common import process.  All of the TELCOR drivers live "outside" the actual user interface and are totally independent from the Output to the LIS/EMR.  This unique design allows TELCOR to:

  • Make and release device driver changes as required by the device vendor without revalidation of the entire TELCOR system.  This allows us to respond quickly to device vendor and customer needs.  Changes to the TELCOR drivers are only required when the Output from the device vendor changes. New tests, consumables, devices, etc. are automatically created by the exception processing engine component.
  • Respond to customer requested enhancements that apply to all device types through the common WorkQ component. This maximizes development efficiency and minimizes turnaround time from development to release.
  • Implement Driver and WorkQ changes without any impact on the output to the LIS/EMR. This eliminates the need for the customer to perform revalidation of the Output when driver changes are implemented.
  • Provide a firewall between the device vendor’s software used to set up and communicate with their devices and the TELCOR software. This allows the device vendor to release new features completely independent of the TELCOR software.
